REIKI DEFINED
What is Reiki?
Reiki is hands-on natural healing using the universal life force energy. The term comes from the Japanese words "rei," meaning universal, and "ki," which means vital life force energy that flows through all living things.
Reiki, an abundant, gentle spiritual energy is not tied to any specific religion or nationality. Reiki complements all other types of medical and therapeutic treatments. Reiki treatment should not be used as a substitute for consultation of a physician, a practitioner of natural therapeutics or a psychotherapist.
Reiki can increase the efficacy of other types of healing. Reiki is not specific to any particular type of disease or condition. Because it works on the entire self — mind, body and emotions — and because it is universal life force energy, it may be successful in all types of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual healing.

The Seven Chakras
Chakras are part of the human energy system. There are seven main chakras that run from the base of the spine to the top of the head. These chakras are said to resemble a funnel that becomes wider as it gets farther away from the body. Each chakra vibrates to a specific tone and color.
Root Chakra— Red
Base of the spine to the pubic bone
The Root chakra is related to our family or tribal relationships and connections — where we come from.
Sacral Chakra— Orange
A few finger lengths below the navel
The Sacral chakra governs our sexual energy, creativity, desires, self-gratification, addictions, physical sensations and movement. This chakra connects people through their feelings.
Solar Plexus Chakra— Yellow
Just above the navel
The Solar Plexus deals with our sense of self-esteem, ego, intuition and personality. It is related to our relationship with the self only.
Heart Chakra— Green
Center of the chest
The Heart chakra is related to unconditional love, compassion, well being, harmony, equilibrium and the union of male and female energies.
Throat Chakra— Blue
Neck and mouth area
The Throat chakra governs independence, fluent thought, self-expression, language and the vibration of sound. It is related to communication and growth through expression.
Third Eye Chakra— Indigo
Between the eyebrows
The Third Eye is related to balancing the higher and lower self and learning to trust your inner guidance. This is the seat of our intuition.
Crown Chakra— Violet / White
Top of the head
The Crown chakra represents our highest thought, pure consciousness, universal identity, Divine self-knowledge, and our connection to the greater world beyond.
